ROBIN ATHEY

Robin Athey has 24 years of experience as a strategy consultant, executive coach, group facilitator, and thought leader.

Robin believes that today’s global, dynamic, complex, and uncertain world calls for deep change, adaptive leadership, and wise action.  It asks us to create rather than react.  And it invites us to tap capacities in ourselves, our communities, our organizations, and our societies that we may not have accessed before.

To paraphrase Albert Einstein, the significant problems we face today cannot be solved at the same level of awareness with which we created them.  Robin is committed to generating this change, first in herself, as she partners with clients to cultivate leadership for innovation and sustainable growth.

The services she provides include executive coaching, leadership assessment, group facilitation, and the design and delivery of innovative, whole system approaches to leadership and change.   She also co-leads workshops and retreats around topics such as:  Leadership Embodiment,  Self-Managing Leadership,  Centered Leadership,  Leading for Change,  Masterful Conversations,  Navigating Diversity, as well as broader initiatives such as  Strategic Focusing.

Robin’s clients have included ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies; Eli Lilly, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies; Fujitsu, a leading provider of IT and communications solutions; Girl Scouts USA; one of the world’s oldest and largest non-profits; and IDEO, a premier design and innovation firm.

Robin has extensive international experience, having lived in eight, and worked in 28, countries across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union.

For nine years, she served as Research Director at Deloitte, where she led the firm’s global research around the human aspects of organizational performance.  She also served as adjunct faculty in the firm’s internal coaching practice. Her work on talent strategy and collaborative knowledge networks generated millions of dollars in new business and led to two new service offerings for Deloitte’s consulting practice.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Robin led global production as Vice-President at Cole-Haan, a subsidiary of Nike.  She began her career in strategy and operations consulting with Kurt Salmon Associates.

Robin has been a fellow at Harvard University and has authored dozens of studies and articles, teaming with faculty from MIT, Harvard University, and INSEAD.  Her work has been published at the World Economic Forum and cited in major media such as The Economist, ABC World News, The Times, Investors’ Business Daily, and The Globe and Mail.  She has presented and keynoted at major conferences and led executive workshops on three continents.

To support clients’ growth and guide change, Robin weaves together a distinct blend of presence, inquiry, and cutting edge approaches which include:  Ontological Coaching,  Action Inquiry,  Art of Hosting,  Clean Language Facilitation,  Cognitive Edge,  Leadership EmbodimentConscious Embodiment,  Core Transformation,  the Enneagram,  Focusing,  Future Search,  Gestalt,  Immunity to Change,  Integral Theory,  The Leadership Circle,  the Leadership Development Profile,  Open Space TechnologyPower & Systems,  Productive Conversations,  Shadow Work Facilitation,  Subject-Object Interviewing,  Theory U,  Voice Dialogue,  A Values Inventory (AVI),  Values Online,  the World Cafe, and various forms of movement, meditation, and reflective practice.  She is currently studying the Hakomi Method and Dynamic Stillness.
